Lmao dude as a Minnesotan (non religious though) I THOUGHT there was something about you and the way you talk (type)
So familiar lol
There’s tiny midwestern pockets out in the wide world
I tend to do the “I’m gonna scooch on past ya” thing without even realizing it too lol
I’m not from the Midwest but I am Lutheran which at least puts me somewhere culturally adjacent to it
Minnesota is the holy land (joke) and I hope to visit someday
At least 3/4 of the time when midwesterners talk about a unique cultural experience I’m like ah yes just like at church I know about that one
Part of it might be the number of Scandinavian and German Americans in the vicinity. Part of it might be that church headquarters tend to be in the Midwest and Lutherans tend to keep in touch and mingle across state lines and most in the US are from the Midwest so you come into contact with a lot of midwesterners visiting, moving, or at conferences. I’m very familiar with the midwestern potluck food.
